Our sustainability commitment includes digital equality and protecting the planet. Since 2010, we have collected and recycled 16 million mobile phones worldwide.
We’re also the only operator to offer an end-to-end Social and Solidarity Economy that helps to protect the environment and create jobs in France and Africa.

We’re using ever more refurbished equipment in our core businesses: networks, data centers, business services, etc.
In 2021, we launched our OSCAR internal marketplace to reuse existing equipment in our infrastructure. From now on, when we sign network sharing agreements in Spain or Belgium, they will incorporate the use of reconditioned equipment, avoiding the manufacture of new materials and extending the useful life of our equipment.

By 2040, we are committed to a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions directly linked to our business activities. Our eco-efficient data centers will help us meet our targets and the growing need for data hosting.
These data centers – located in Centre-Val de Loire and Val-de-Reuil – optimize energy consumption thanks to “free cooling”. This technology uses ambient fresh air to cool equipment 11 months out of 12, reducing the need for artificial air conditioning for more than 80% of the year.

In December 2021, we created the first €50,000 European single-investor carbon fund, Orange Nature, to support CO2 sequestration projects without any expectation of financial return.
In addition, we finance around 30 reforestation projects, as part of a partnership with Alliance Forêts Bois. In total, 175 hectares will be reforested in metropolitan France, equivalent to more than 32,000 metric tons of CO2 sequestered.
